Upright or Horizontal? PS5 offers two different orientations.

 Since the PS5 is a fairly large console, Sony has found new ways to help manage storage by allowing the orientation of the PS5 console either vertically or horizontally. Each orientation has pros and cons:

Vertical VS. Horizontal

Position	Pros	Cons
Vertical	Saves space, visually appealing	Requires stand, less stable
Horizontal	More stable, traditional look	Takes up more space

As the table shows, the vertical position is the better-looking position that allows the features of the PS5 to show. However, this position is less stable and has a higher chance of being knocked over and damaging the console, even if the stand is attached. 

On the other hand, the horizontal position gives your console a more traditional look, similar to that of the previous consoles. But, since the PS5 is relatively big, this positioning takes up more space. So, if you are an old-gen gaming enthusiast, this is the right position for you. 

How to Change Between The Two Orientations?

Since changing between the two orientations might be a common practice for gamers, the PS5 comes with a stand and a screw that allow the secure positioning of the console, and it is fairly easy to use and install. Despite the rumors, the orientation of the console does not affect the cooling or ventilation of the console. Instead, it is only a matter of what you prefer, and what suits your gaming setup best.
